Guest conductor Stephen Squires leads the DuPage Symphony in a colorful program celebrating the rich musical legacy of nineteenth-century France, with works by Hector Berlioz, Georges Bizet, Jacques Offenbach, Charles Gounod, Claude Debussy, and Camille Saint-Saëns. The concert includes perennial favorites such as Claire de lune, the Danse Bacchanale from Samson e Dalila, the Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld – with its famous Can-Can! – and excerpts from the beloved opera Carmen. To celebrate the upcoming American holiday, the DSO also offers a selection of exhilarating works by Leroy Anderson, Aaron Copland, John Williams, and George Gershwin. Don’t miss this fun-filled evening under the stars, showcasing a wide array of beautiful melodies, gorgeous orchestrations, and toe-tapping rhythms!
