Upcoming Performances

"Echoes of the English Soul"
Saturday, October 14
Concert Artists Guild and Sphinx Competition Winner Gabriel Martins performs Edward Elgar’s deeply moving Cello Concerto of 1919. Two works by Ralph Vaughan Williams – his tuneful Overture to The Wasps and his powerful Symphony No. 9 in E minor – round out the program.

"Magic of the Magyars"
Saturday, November 18
Rich Hungarian flavors prevail, with Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 1, Zoltán Kodaly’s Háry János Suite, and Carl Maria von Weber’s Andante e Rondo ungarese, performed by acclaimed bassoon soloist Eleni Katz. Liszt’s stirring tone poem Les préludes caps the evening.

"Holly Jolly Harmonies"
Sunday, December 17
Holiday creations by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Samuel Barber, and Ottorino Respighi complement a selection of popular medleys fashioned for the season, and the Spectrum Youth Singers will join DSO once again for our holiday concert. And who knows: will that special visitor in a fancy red suit take over the podium for another rousing rendition of Sleigh Ride?
