Our opening concert of our 60th Anniversary Season features Wagner's Rienzi Overture and Benjamin Britten's evocative Four Sea Interludes. Acclaimed pianist Daria Rabotkina, winner of the 2007 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, joins the DSO for Tchaikovsky's monumental Piano Concerto No. 1.

From historical figures through some of Hollywood’s super-heroes – you will encounter heroes from Beethoven’s Egmont to Sibelius’s Lemminkainen then on to Robin Hood, Superman, and of course – James Bond. This evening will be a fun-filled, family-friendly event to remember.

Richard Strauss' monumental tone poem Don Quixote - based on the magnum opus of Miguel de Cervantes and scored for solo violoncello, viola, and huge orchestra - culminates the DuPage Symphony's yearlong celebration of great music inspired by great literature. Soloist Sebastian Baverstam, praised by The Strad for his "powerfully expressive style" and "consummate instrumental mastery," joins the DSO as soloist in this extraordinary work. Schumann's Manfred Overture and Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet make up the first half of the program, completing the inspirational thread for the DSO's season of "Great Expectations."
