Important Season Update

Our Board of Directors determined it necessary to suspend all season and family concerts scheduled at Wentz Concert Hall through May 2021. We realize this news must be terribly disappointing to you – as it is to us - but we believe that this decision is the best course of action to ensure that the DSO can continue serving our community in the long run. We based our decision on three key factors:

  1. Health and Safety - Ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons, musicians, staff, and volunteers, along with that of the entire community remains our top priority.

  2. Financial Sustainability - As our community continues to reopen, concert venues will be required to maintain significant social distancing for an unspecified amount of time. Unfortunately, we cannot sustainably operate with such social distancing requirements, due to the loss of revenue associated with reduced audience capacity.

  3. Bringing Music to the Community – Cancelling our large-scale concerts will allow us to shift our focus to providing alternate virtual / chamber performances to the communities we serve.

Even though we are cancelling our large-scale events for the foreseeable future, we are still committed to providing a full season of activities in the safest way possible. We have added virtual performances to our website as well as informational videos, so you can learn about the various instruments in the orchestra. We are also actively working to schedule small group / chamber events throughout DuPage County that fall within the current social distancing guidelines in order to bring you a more intimate musical experience than can be shared in a large theater. This may be a little different from what we had originally planned, but we hope you will find it just as exciting.

If you already purchased your subscription for the 2020-21 season, Kristin will contact you to discuss your options. You will be able to donate your subscription back to the DSO, keep your payment on file and apply it to the 2021-22 season, or request a refund.

As new guidelines become available from state and local public health officials, we will continue to evaluate if the DuPage Symphony Orchestra may be able to resume activity sooner than next spring.

We are very much looking forward to the day when we are once again able to come together and share our love of music with you!
