The DSO provides real-life orchestral experiences for area students.
Preludes & Interludes – The Preludes & Interludes Student Musician Series provides a valuable opportunity for chamber ensembles, made up of high school musicians in DuPage County, to perform at DuPage Symphony Orchestra concerts throughout the season.
These short chamber performances take place in the lobby during intermission or prior to various DSO concerts.

Students participating in the Preludes & Interludes program will receive one complimentary ticket to the performance
as well as one complimentary ticket for a guest; additional tickets may be purchased in advance through the Managing
Director at or 630-778-1003. Extra complimentary tickets may be available for music directors or instructors who teach the students. Click here for more information & application form.
Young Artists Auditions - The DSO encourages serious study and musical excellence among young musicians through its annual Young Artists Auditions. Each entrant will be evaluated by experienced judges and will receive written comments and suggestions based on their individual performances.
The First Place Winner will appear as a soloist at our March subscription concert (March 21 at 7:30 pm) and receives a cash prize of $500. Second Place Winner receives a cash prize of $300.
Audition date TBD; our original date of Saturday, February 1 conflicts with the Illinois Music Education Conference in Peoria. We are working on rescheduling the audition date and will post updated information as soon as everything is confirmed. Only twenty-five audition slots are available, which will be determined by postmark date. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, January 10, 2020.

Student Intern Program - Students earn volunteer hours and hands-on experience assisting the DSO with patron services at concerts and events, helping with the Instrument Petting Zoo, putting up posters around town and more. Please contact us at info@DupageSymphony.org to learn more.
The DSO provides inspiration and cultural enrichment through musical excellence, educational programs, and community outreach.
Community Outreach – The DSO inspires people of all ages to develop an appreciation for music by performing free chamber concerts at local libraries and at least one free concert over the summer.
Youth Outreach – Children and their families can attend Open Dress Rehearsals and visit our Instrument Petting Zoo during intermission or listen to chamber groups during Tiny Great Performances at the DuPage Children's Museum.
