Music Education Specialists

(This is a grant-funded position with project-based payment.)

The DuPage Symphony Orchestra seeks to engage up to 4 different Music Education Specialists to create engaging, high quality music education videos geared toward a general audience, highlighting the music of our 2022/23 season, Up Close and Personal. Each of our four classical concerts has a specific theme: German Masters, Mexico & Spain, American Spirituals & American Jazz, and Symphonic Song.

The DSO's vision for these educational videos includes a diverse representation of composers, genres, historical periods and instrumentation.  The music education specialist(s) will create a short (2-5 minutes) video for display through DSO social media and a long (10-15 minutes) video for posting on the DSO website at least 5 weeks in advance of the respective concert dates, ideally 8 weeks prior to each concert.

The ideal candidate will create accessible, friendly, and informative videos designed to enhance the average concertgoers listening experience by highlighting major musical themes in the work, notable moments in the music, composer background, and/or relevant cultural details.

The music specialist may also create listening guides to the major repertoire for additional compensation.
