"Beyond Beautiful”: A Celebration of Local Talent and Musical Masterpieces

The DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) proudly presents Beyond Beautiful, an exceptional musical event on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville. This extraordinary concert highlights award-winning local violist Rose Armbrust Griffin of Wheaton, performing Cecil Forsyth’s rarely heard and exquisitely lyrical Viola Concerto.

This performance celebrates a significant milestone in the DSO’s mission to showcase local talent and enrich the community through music. Griffin’s artistry enhances two compelling orchestral works: Otto Nicolai’s Overture to The Merry Wives of Windsor and Tchaikovsky’s profoundly moving Symphony No. 6, the Pathétique, a haunting masterpiece premiered just days before the composer’s untimely death.

Beyond Beautiful demonstrates the DSO’s dedication to providing accessible and inspiring cultural experiences. The Illinois Arts Council Creative Catalyst Grant supports Griffin’s residency with the DSO, enabling her outreach to six local schools and a free Open Rehearsal to inspire the next generation of musicians and audiences.

To enrich the concert experience, Anima – Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus, under the direction of Artistic Director Evan Bruno, will perform a special pre-concert and intermission program in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby. “At Anima, we are inspiring the next generation of musicians and consumers of the arts. Our mission is to get more young people singing, in more ways, and in more places,” said Bruno. “Partnerships with organizations like the DuPage Symphony Orchestra not only provide our singers the chance to perform, but also reminds them that making and appreciating music is something that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
