Beata Nowak, President of the Naperville Art League

The DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is proud to partner with the Naperville Art League to present An Exhibition of Pictures, a one-of-a-kind artistic and musical experience celebrating the vibrant arts community of DuPage County.

This special collaboration, tied to the DSO’s “Young at Heart” concert on Sunday, March 16 at 3:00 PM at Wentz Concert Hall, will showcase 15 original artworks by Naperville artists inspired by Mussorgsky’s iconic orchestral work, Pictures at an Exhibition. Guests will have the unique opportunity to experience the music while contemplating the artwork in the lobby, fostering a deeper connection between visual and musical expression.

“The arts are essential to a thriving and vibrant community,” said Mari Ullrick, Strategic Director of Operations and Engagement for the DuPage Symphony Orchestra. “This collaboration highlights the powerful intersection of music and visual art, offering audiences an enriched cultural experience that brings our local arts community closer together.”

Naperville Art League President Beata Nowak shared the League’s excitement for this partnership: “Through this partnership with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, The Naperville Art League will be enriched by hoping to inspire a new group of artists, musicians. Part of the art league’s mission is to bring art and art awareness out into the community. With this collaboration we are hoping to marry visual arts with musical arts and connect both communities.”

To further enhance the experience, concert attendees will receive a free limited-edition Pictures at an Exhibition coloring book, designed by the DSO’s Educational Partnerships and Community Engagement Committee. This interactive booklet allows audiences to engage with the artwork in a creative way while listening to Mussorgsky’s masterpiece. Copies will be available while supplies last.

In addition to Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, the “Young at Heart” concert will showcase the Young Naperville Singers of Naperville, as well as a special performance by Joseph Gallwas of Elmhurst, winner of the DSO’s 2025 Young Artists Auditions. This inspiring program celebrates young talent and the future of the arts in DuPage County. Join the DSO at “Young at Heart” on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville.
