DuPage Symphony Orchestra Announces "Bold and Beautiful" 2024/25 Season
The DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated 2024-2025 concert season, titled “Bold and Beautiful,” marking the orchestra’s 71st season of bringing exceptional live music to the community. Under the baton of Maestra Barbara Schubert, the DSO promises a series of electrifying performances that span the full spectrum of classical music, from timeless masterpieces to groundbreaking new works.
2024-2025 Season Concerts – Bold and Beautiful
This season, the DSO will present a dynamic lineup of six main concerts at Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville, each embodying the spirit of bold innovation and beauty:
- Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 3 pm – “Bold Beginnings”
- A powerful start to the season with Borodin’s dramatic Symphony No. 2 in B minor alongside the world premiere of an award-winning piece by young composer Angel Alday.
- Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 7:30 pm – “Scandinavian Showcase”
- A celebration of Nordic musical heritage featuring works by Grieg, Nielsen, and Gade, and Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, performed by Concert Artists Guild International Competition Winner Ariel Horowitz.
- Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 2:30 pm & 4:30 pm – “Holiday Magic”
- Experience the warmth of the season with an array of festive tunes from around the world. Keep an eye out for a special guest in Wentz Concert Hall!
- Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 3 pm – “Beyond Beautiful”
- Featuring Cecil Forsyth’s melodious Viola Concerto, performed by acclaimed local artist Rose Armbrust Griffin of Wheaton Conservatory, and Tchaikovsky’s poignantly beautiful Symphony No. 6, Pathétique.
- Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 3 pm – “Young at Heart”
- Celebrate youth and creativity with a performance by the 2025 Young Artists Audition Winner and a gala collaboration with the Young Naperville Singers, culminating in Mussorgsky’s beloved Pictures at an Exhibition.
- Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 7:30 pm – “Mexican Montage”
- A vibrant tribute to Mexican cultural heritage featuring works by Aaron Copland, Arturo Márquez, and others, with Carlos Chávez’s mesmerizing Piano Concerto, performed by Concert Artists Guild Winner Llewellyn Sánchez-Werner.
