Richard Strauss' monumental tone poem Don Quixote - based on the magnum opus of Miguel de Cervantes and scored for solo violoncello, viola, and huge orchestra - culminates the DuPage Symphony's yearlong celebration of great music inspired by great literature. Soloist Sebastian Baverstam, praised by The Strad for his "powerfully expressive style" and "consummate instrumental mastery," joins the DSO as soloist in this extraordinary work. Schumann's Manfred Overture and Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet make up the first half of the program, completing the inspirational thread for the DSO's season of "Great Expectations."
Presenter: DuPage Symphony Orchestra
Schumann: Manfred, Op. 115
Tchaikovsky: Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture
Strauss: Don Quixote, Op. 35
Artist: Sebastian Bäverstam (Cello)
