Ching-Yun Hu, piano

Taiwan-born pianist Ching-Yun Hu, winner of the 2009 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, has been applauded as a "towering talent" (Bournemouth Echo) with "that elusive superstar quality that everybody looks for. Musical, energetic, and full of flair" (Jerusalem Post). She shares the stage with the DSO for Beethoven's brilliantly virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major.

For a grand culmination to its 2011-2012 season, the DuPage Symphony brings 100 musicians on stage to present Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D Major: a monumental artistic achievement that echoes the serenity of nature, incorporates the simplicity of folk song, and depicts the passionate struggles of human existence within its massive and compelling musical edifice.
